Donald Lindover is a senior attorney at Claxton Law PLLC and one of the longest-practicing immigration lawyers in the United States. From his admission to the New York Bar in 1969 to his current role mentoring the next generation of immigration attorneys, Mr. Lindover's career has tracked nearly every major chapter of modern U.S. immigration law.
About Donald Lindover
Mr. Donald Lindover is a seasoned veteran of immigration law and a cornerstone of Claxton Law Group. A Queens native and a graduate of Syracuse College of Law, he has been championing the rights of immigrants since passing the New York Bar in 1969. After an honorable six-year service in the U.S. Marine Corps, Mr. Lindover turned down lucrative legal avenues to start his own firm in 1971, dedicated exclusively to immigration law, at a time when the modern immigration bar was still being built.
As a previous Chairman of the New York Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), his legacy includes influential roles in AILA, impactful work with the U.S. Department of Labor on labor certification policy, and advising on key immigration policies with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). He is admitted to the Bar of the United States Supreme Court, an admission held by only a small fraction of practicing attorneys.
With his rich family heritage of Polish immigrants and a mother who spoke seven languages, Mr. Lindover's personal and professional life is deeply rooted in the immigrant experience. That heritage shapes the patience and respect he brings to every client meeting, qualities that, paired with decades of accumulated procedural knowledge, have made him a trusted resource for families, employers, and fellow attorneys alike.

Legacy & Influence
Few practicing attorneys in the United States have witnessed, and shaped, as much immigration law history as Donald Lindover. From the immediate aftermath of the Immigration and Nationality Act amendments of the late 1960s, through the legalization programs of the 1980s, the family- and employment-based reforms of the 1990s, the post-9/11 enforcement era, and the policy shifts of the modern decade, Mr. Lindover has been an active practitioner and a quiet advisor.
That perspective gives Claxton Law's clients a rare advantage: an attorney who has lived through the policy cycles that shape today's adjudications. It also means his colleagues, Diane Claxton and Daliana Gomez Garcia, benefit from a daily teacher whose institutional memory is, frankly, irreplaceable.
